ABOUT ME

Dr. Yeban has an earned Ph.D. in Development Studies from De La Salle University. She obtained her Master of Arts in Education with Specialization in Social Science Teaching at Philippine Normal University and her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Philippine Christian University. She also obtained a scholarship from Yale University on Law and Literature under the Yale-China Program. In 2016, she topped the rigorous selection of the first batch of Philippine Higher Education Career System (PHILHECS) and eventually completing the program with distinction.

Dr. Yeban is known to be undaunted in exploring new things. In 2007, as part of her social experiment, she left PNU to join a mining company, as its Vice President for Corporate Social Commitments. She pioneered in applying the human rights framework in the conduct of business operations of mining companies. She helped develop the corporate social responsibility standard of the Chamber of Mines. Despite her lucrative position as Vice President of an international mining company, she re-joined PNU to resume her academic work and help nurture innovative teachers and education leaders which is PNU’s mandate as the National Center for Teacher Education.

She has trained teachers, school leaders, activists, lawyers, police officers, the military, local government officials, and other professional in the field of human rights education.

 

As an educator and academic, she authored numerous books and articles and conducted researches on human rights education, peace, women, critical thinking, social science education, development, business and human rights, and democracy education.
